Why is this mindset important?
A brief history of business and education
In order to understand why the CEO mindset is so important, we have to first look back to a time when the United States was filled with owners.
People owned their businesses. The shoe maker, the baker, the dairy farmer. They all owned their businesses. Then came the Industrial Revolution, where the great titans of industry began to consolidate wealth and power.
Huge companies now demanded a huge work force. The solution was a system to train people how to work for someone else.
This is so the machine of industry could move and grow. That is how we inherited our current educational system.
How do we untrain the trained?
Our mission is found in teaching people how to leave wages for profits.
“Profits are better than wages.”
True wealth can only come when one transitions from the limited wealth potential of the employee system. It creates a mindset where you:
- Will trade your time for money because you
- Believe time = money
The truth is that time is way more precious & valuable than money. To trade it is like renting your life for less than it’s worth.
Ask 10 people if they think their boss is paying them what they are worth. How many of them do you think will say “NO?”
A messed up system
The problem with this setup is that when you trade 8 hours to make X dollars, you would have to trade 16 hours if you want to make 2X.
In order to make more money, you would have to give up more of your time / life.
Making the switch
When you move from wages to profits, you are able to detach your dollar from your hour. You’ll be able to attach your dollar to your creativity.
Lets look at something that might disturb you and make you angry but it is necessary for you to see the complete picture of these two systems.
Consider the person that is making ten times as much money as you. Are they working 10 times as hard as you? Are they even working just as hard as you?
Aren’t they making 10 times as much money but working less than you? As a matter of fact, while you are at work, they are on the golf course.
Why people can’t leave a broken system
Training is needed because the mentality of receiving a steady paycheck, keeps many people from building a business system. They have been trained to expect a check.
The entrepreneur, on the other hand, knows that there won’t be a steady check in the beginning but the coming profits will dwarf the amount they would make for trading their time for dollars.
